Pašteta, a foundational canned pate that has fed generations of Balkaners whether it’s at the beach in Montenegro or at a breakfast table at a village home paired with a Bavarian style pretzel bread stick. I decided to pursue the pescatarian route with this one versus a traditional poultry or pork version.
While I couldn’t find a local Balkan bakery to pair it with the traditional pretzel bread stick, these ciabatta rolls from my Trader Joe’s haul that I did earlier this week worked great.

As I opened the can, the smell of tuna was subtle was indeed present but in a very pleasant and smoked way. Reminded me of the Swedish salmon paste I had from ikea years ago.
The overall patte texture makes this ideal to be spread by a knife or to just freestyle and dip it straight into the can. I think this would be an ideal pairing with some pickled vegetables on the side. The taste reminded me of smoked fish while having the creamy pate texture which I was not bothered by at all. I would even say that this is even more delicatessen and of higher quality than your other canned patte from the Balkans.
I would definitely make a sandwich with some pickles, tomatoes, and lettuce for when I go to have a nice sandwich lunch at the park.

Overall I think this can is an 88/100.
