I’m not going to lie, this can looks disgusting from the picture on the cover. I’m not really sure how a canned soup with spinach is supposed to be appetizing at all, and we know the Campbell’s isn’t afraid to drop some absolute slop on their fans.

As I opened up the can, I took a sniff and really enjoyed the onion aroma that filled my nasal cavity. I began pouring the can into my two cups for microwaving but I ran into a bit of a predicament. All the liquid came out at the beginning while the food chunks stayed in the can. I put on my thinking cap and realized i could just microwave it in the cups and then pour it back in the can, which is what I did as you can see by the images above.

Getting into the soup itself, I was relieved to find that it wasn’t disgusting. This is about as thin as you can get for a soup, flows like water. The broth of the soup was a nice chicken borth, but it honestly tasted a bit bland, which is strange considering how much sodium is in this thing. The meatballs are nice small Italian meatballs with a firm texture. They were properly seasoned and I am surprised that the flavor didn’t get washed away sitting in that broth for so long. The little cracker balls had almost a boba-like texture to them, but were much less chewy.

The spinach was one of my main concerns going into this when looking at the can, but it really doesn’t come through that strongly. It mainly just became a mush that hopped onto the meatballs and crackers as a vehicle for delivery. Eating this can made me think of school lunches for some reason, make of that what you will. The celery in this can definitely had a strong presence, which I was honestly a fan of. I think celery is just one of those flavor goats that you can pretty much put in any dish.

The can consists of mostly broth when compared to the food chunks, which explains the 200 calories total. I feel mostly full directly after eating, I might want to snack on something before the day ends.

I know this is supposed to be my review, but here’s a comment I found from trisha71,

“was thankful to be able to request this product. who doesnt love campbells soup. only kind of soup i purchase for my household. much rather eat campbells than home made. this is my one sons favorite kind so he was happy. “

Overall I think this soup has a very good flavor and texture to it, however I do feel that it’s hard to work with such a low calorie count consistently. Pairing this with some bread could really round this meal out.

I will have to give it an 85/100.

A spoon might help with the liquidity of the consistency that you mention

Spoons are not in the budget at this time. Please listen to the opening of “Fortunate Son” by Creedence Clearwater Revival, the song is about me.

Do you think this soup may have hit the 90-95 range if cooked in a saucepan as opposed to the microwave?

No, I think microwaving is better. My parents always microwaved our food growing up, they said it’s healthier because you can’t burn the bottom.
